Hold on. What is Day Training?
Day training is a convenient and highly effective service where a professional dog trainer works directly with your dog, right in your home, your neighborhood, or another familiar environment. Instead of coaching you through every step, the trainer performs the hands-on work and then demonstrates how to maintain your dog’s progress through easy-to-follow transfer sessions.
The benefits go on and on.
Convenience
Your time is valuable. Day training takes the pressure off by letting a professional do the heavy lifting. We handle the teaching, so you can focus on enjoying the results.
Expert Guidance
You’re not alone in this. A skilled, certified trainer becomes your partner, tailoring the training to your dog’s unique needs and making adjustments in real time. This ensures lasting behavior change, rather than just temporary fixes.
Training Where it Counts
Behaviors are taught where they matter most: at your front door, on your sidewalk, in your living room. Working in your dog’s natural environment leads to faster learning and better retention.
Personalized Support
Because no two dogs are the same, your trainer uses methods that match your dog’s personality, learning style, and pace. Progress is consistent, practical, and kind.
Positive Training
We use science-backed, force-free training methods that build trust and confidence. Your dog learns through praise, play, and treats, not fear or punishment.
Perfect for Teaching
- Leash manners – smoother walks without pulling or lunging
- House manners – no more jumping, counter surfing, or door dashing
- Puppy outings – confident, curious, and social puppy
- Helpful skills – fun and functional behaviors like “go to mat” or “leave it”
- Safety skills – we’ll train a stay or recall that you can depend on
- Service task training – foundational skills for service and support dogs
Day training is not designed to address behavior concerns
Day training can be beneficial for many skills, but it is not a practical approach for addressing aggression or leash reactivity.
This kind of behavior change takes time, trust, and hands-on involvement from you. While we can teach management strategies in day training, changing how a dog feels about their triggers requires real-world practice with their person. That requires human training.
I want both you and your dog to succeed. When we try to shortcut the process, it leads to frustration for you and for me. That’s why I recommend a more collaborative approach for cases involving leash reactivity.
The Good Human Program
Our in-home day training program provides structure, progress, and peace of mind. You’ll see real changes in your dog’s behavior because we train with heart, science, and a deep respect for the bond between dogs and their humans.
How It Works
- Your trainer comes to you — regular visits for one-on-one training sessions
- You learn, too — through easy, supportive transfer sessions
- Your dog thrives — with consistent, kind, customized training
Better than boot camp
Sessions take place in your home and neighborhood, making this an excellent alternative to traditional camp-based programs.
You can have peace of mind knowing that your dog is being trained with kindness and respect.
